Project Title: Family Supportive and Service-Enriched Housing Initiative
The Council on Homeless Policies and Services is comprised of 58 nonprofit service providers who contract with New York City to provide emergency and transitional housing programs to homeless New Yorkers. In partnership with the Supportive Housing Network of New York, a grant from the FAR Fund will enable the Council to continue its campaign to have the city and state governments allocate significantly expanded resources for supportive housing for families. |

Project Title: Self-Help
The Henry Street Settlement is a multi-service organization that helps disadvantaged families improve their quality of life. Since 1893, Henry Street Settlement has been located on the Lower Eastside of New York . Its programs now reach all five boroughs of New York City . Self-Help will serve formerly homeless families using a case-management model. With support from the FAR Fund, Self-Help will continue to assist families with permanent housing once they leave the shelter system, by linking them with community-based services in their neighborhoods. |

Project Title: Affordable Housing for Whom?
Picture the Homeless, founded by two homeless men in 1999, is based on the principle that homeless people have civil and human rights regardless of their race, color or economic status. A major goal of its Affordable Housing for Whom? Campaign is to develop and implement alternative ways New York City can determine subsidized housing eligibility which will enable a larger group of vulnerable people to be eligible for subsidized housing. A grant from the FAR Fund will allow them to hire a full-time organizer. |

Project Title: Supportive Housing for Family Reunification
The mission of South Brooklyn Legal Services (SBLS) is to seek equal justice for low-income people in Brooklyn by providing a broad range of legal advocacy and information. A grant from the FAR Fund will enable SBLS to continue its individual and systemic advocacy efforts to expand the availability of affordable housing for families seeking reunification after foster care placement. Goals include obtaining supportive housing through existing programs, advocating for more programs to develop the services that families need and eliminating systemic barriers to family reunification. |
