Project Title: Mental Retardation/Developmental Disabilities and Child Welfare Information Exchange
With support from the FAR Fund, a forum will be held with child welfare advocates and mental retardation/developmental disability advocates, providers and government representatives. The purpose of the forum is to enlighten child welfare advocates on how the mental retardation/developmentally disabled consumers and their parents obtained rights within the field. A report, “Learning from Experiences,” was produced detailing recommendations and strategies discussed at the forum. |

Project Title: The Oaks Retreat Center
The Oaks is a retreat center located in New Rochelle , which has two large houses that can accommodate up to 25 guests each. The Oaks has hosted numerous retreats for a variety of community groups. The FAR Fund offered former and current grantees the use of the space for retreats for strategic planning, community building or other grant related purposes. A FAR Fund grant supported retreats for GRASP, the CUNY Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology and Sista II Sista. |
