A grant from the FAR Fund will support the work of the Task Force.

Project Title: New Destiny Housing Initiative
New Destiny was established in 1994 to develop and manage emergency, transitional and permanent housing citywide for special needs populations with emphasis on victims of domestic violence. With support from the FAR Fund, New Destiny will provide tenant services at two of its Brooklyn locations, Bridge Community and Bridge Towers. It will also provide training, technical assistance and advocacy for low-income domestic violence survivors seeking affordable permanent housing.

Project Title: Shelter Aftercare Housing Coalition
Sanctuary for Families was founded in 1984 as a small network of safe houses providing emergency shelter for abused women and their children. Sanctuary for Families now offers a full spectrum of interconnected, culturally sensitive services, which empower the clients to establish independence and remain free from abuse. Support from the FAR Fund will allow Sanctuary for Families to hire a Housing Specialist to help expand the Housing Coalition of advocates and service providers from domestic violence shelters and also identify best practice models of intervention and prevention.
