The FAR Fund Fellowship Bullying of Students on the Autistic Spectrum Using Philanthropy to Improve Social Welfare Programs and Systems
Due Date: April 14, 2006 Application
The FAR Fund was established by an anonymous donor in 2001. The Fund focuses on New York City and works in three domains: improving and expanding services and systems for people on the autistic spectrum, preventing violence against youth, and preventing homelessness. The Fund also seeks to support the application of psychoanalytic principles to the solution of these problems, and will give special consideration to projects in the three domains mentioned above that incorporate psychodynamic theory or techniques. The FAR Fund is administered by the Fund for Social Change.
The FAR Fund Fellowship is designed to expose individuals to the use of philanthropy to improve social service programs and social welfare systems. The FAR Fund Fellow will be trained to develop a project within two of the FAR Fund’s areas of focus: improving and expanding services for people on the autistic spectrum and preventing violence against youth, specifically bullying. Bullying is defined as aggressive behavior that is intentional and that involves an imbalance or power or strength. In addition, the Fellow will develop a funding proposal that will be considered for support by the FAR Fund.
