Project Title: Reflection on the Future of Psychoanalysis: Mentalization, Internalization, and Representation Conference
The Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at City College has been in the forefront of training doctoral level, psychoanalytically orientated psychologists. Support from the FAR Fund will enable CUNY’s Doctoral Program, with sponsorship from the Anna Freud Center, University College of London, and the Yale Child Study Center, to host a conference focused on generating dialogue among psychoanalytic and developmental scholars about the impact and relevance of mentalization and reflective functioning on psychoanalytic theory and practice. |

Project Title: Fostering Connection
The Fostering Connection, founded in 2001, provides high quality, consistent psychodynamic therapy to foster children in New York City. Volunteer therapist/clinicians provide therapy to one child “for as long as it takes” in hopes of providing emotional support and growth. With a grant from the FAR Fund, the Fostering Connection will further build their organizational capacity and develop a secure financial base so that it can continue its work and increase the number of children served. |

Project Title: Chances for Children: Teen Parent-Infant Project
Founded in 1993, the Institute develops programs that address the mental health needs of various communities. With support from the FAR Fund, Chances for Children will expand their work with teen mothers at various school/educational sites by training Department of Education social workers in their direct-service intervention model, providing child care and psycho-dynamically informed psychotherapy with the use of play therapy and video feedback. |

Project Title: Supporting Psychodynamic Approaches in Mental Health Services
Founded in 1984, Sanctuary for Families is a multi-service agency serving victims of domestic violence. A grant from the FAR Fund will allow them to continue their therapy services for non-residential victims of domestic violence. In addition, Sanctuary will collaborate with the Social Intervention Group, a multidisciplinary research center which is affiliated with the Columbia School of Social Work, to develop and implement a strengths-based evaluation tool to assess their long-term therapy program. |

Project Title: Expanding Professional Development and Clinical Services with Underserved Populations
The Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Training Program at the William Alanson White Institute trains doctoral level psychologists, psychiatrists and social workers in child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Support from the FAR Fund will help them expand their Immigrant/Refugee Child Services and Autistic Spectrum Disorder Services, as well as organize seminars on clinical issues surrounding these topics. |

Project Title: Connect and Change: Psychotherapy Project for Domestic Violence Survivors
The Women’s Therapy Centre Institute (WTCI) was founded in 1981 to train psychotherapists from a feminist perspective. The FAR Fund’s support will enable WTCI to continue the Connect and Change program, mobilizing volunteer therapists to provide free psychotherapy to survivors of domestic violence. Volunteer therapists will receive increased supervision and training while WTCI works to increase the number and diversity of psychotherapists available to survivors. |
